Candy Clues (candyclues.com)

candyclues.com

Created: October 2008

Software: Adobe Photoshop, Flash CS3 (Player 9, AS3), Illustrator, and After Effects

Awards: Adobe.com Site of the Day, and NEWWEBPICK.com Super Pick of the World

My team and I have taken a stab at creating an AS3 Flash based video game. Candy Clues took us a little under a month to design and create. It definitely has it’s shortcomings but overall I am very impressed with what we have created in such a short amount of time. The game engine has been created with a bad ass physics engine and made to be repurposed for any project. We are planning on bringing Candy Clues II to life but we’ll see how much time we have.

Story: Oh no! It’s almost Halloween and all of the candy in Ole Birmingham is gone, and local candy maker Granny can’t help because her prized Candy Cows are missing. It’s up to you to save Halloween! Find Granny’s Candy Cows, and figure out who is behind this mysterious mystery. Start by following the Candy Clues.

Wallet World the Virtual Adventures of Kash and Flo (PNC)

Created: September 2008

Software: Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, and Flash CS3.

Our team was entrusted with creating a 2d side scrolling Flash based game for PNC banks. The Wallet World project was a BLAST. We were involved from conception through to execution. There was a tight timeframe to work within but once again we put our noses to the grind stone and got it done well with in schedule. The project was intended to be part of a sweepstakes that PNC was doing for the launch of their new online money management tool the Virtual Wallet. Very fun game. Especially for a bank.

Jack Daniels Racing (jackdanielsracing.com)

Created: May 2008

Software: Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, and Flash CS3.

Awards: 2008 W3 gold and silver award winner.

Our team was teamed up with Slingshot to help program and design the Jack Daniel’s Racing microsite. Very fun project. Essentially stringing a whole bunch of our 3d movies together with hotspots. We developed a lot of useful loading classes to handle multiple swfs among other data types.

Dukes Doghouse (dukesdoghouse.com)

Created: August 2007

Software: Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, 3D Studio Max, Illustrator, and Flash CS3.

Our team was awarded the Dukes Doghouse microsite job. Once again our fairly young team had a huge task to undertake and the biggest problem would be maintaining a budget while working with an agency. Scope creep was continuous throughout the project which forced us to go way over our budgeted hours. This was partially because of scheduling and bidding errors, but mostly because we didn’t know or understand the company we were working with and how they worked. It was a tremendous growing experience. My suggestion to you would be to do your due diligence and understand the companies you are partnering with before working with them, so even if you cant avoid the pitfalls you can at least be prepared for them.

The site incorporated live video with 3d assets. Duke the dog and all of Jay’s shots were done entirely with green screen. Since the launch there have been a few revisions and additions that went a lot smoother after we had an understanding of our partnering agency.
